Nick Parker and Michael Ankers to be charged over alleged stolen mobile phone

Gregor McGill, a senior lawyer at the Crown Prosecution Service, said:

“The CPS has today authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Nick Parker with one offence of receiving stolen goods and one offence of unauthorised access to computer material.

“We have also authorised the police to charge Michael Ankers, 29, from South West London, with theft.

“Both individuals will appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 6 November 2013.

“When considering the file of evidence in this case, the CPS also decided there was insufficient evidence to charge one other suspect in relation to these allegations.

“May I remind all concerned that criminal proceedings against Nick Parker and Michael Ankers will now be commenced and that they have a right to a fair trial. It is very important that nothing is said, or reported, which could prejudice that trial. For these reasons it would be inappropriate for me to comment further.”

Nick Parker is charged as follows:

Between 17/10/10 and 21/10/10 Nick Parker dishonestly received stolen goods, namely a mobile phone belonging to Siobhain McDonagh.

Contrary to section 22 Theft Act 1968.

Between 17/10/10 and 21/10/10 Nick Parker, caused a computer to perform a function with intent to secure unauthorised access to a program or data held in a computer, knowing that such access was unauthorised.

Contrary to section 1 Computer Misuse Act 1990.

 

Michael Ankers is charged as follows:

On or around 17 October 2010 Michael Ankers stole a mobile telephone belonging to Siobhain McDonagh.

Contrary to section 1(1) Theft Act 1968.

Ex BBC DJ Michael Souter Convicted of 19 Sexual Offences Against Children

Former BBC Radio Norfolk Presenter Michael Souter has today (Thursday 17 October) been convicted of 19 sexual offences, including indecent assault, buggery and possession of indecent images of children.

The jury at Norwich Crown Court heard that the offences related to seven victims aged between 11 and 16 at the time of the offending, who were abused over a period of 20 years from 1979 onwards.

Head of the CPS Complex Casework Unit for the East of England Chris McCann said:

“Michael Souter is the classic example of the predatory paedophile who devoted most of his adult life to grooming and abusing young boys while maintaining a façade of the utmost respectability.

“Mr.Souter presented himself to people as a local celebrity from radio and television, happy to be involved in charity events, the Scout movement and as a youth mentor for Norfolk Social Services.

“All this was a smokescreen to hide his true intention: to become close to young boys so he could sexually abuse them, confident that his celebrity status would mean they would not be believed.

“This is the tactic of the classic predatory paedophile who hides behind a façade of respectability to carefully select and groom his victims then subject them to repeated sexual assaults over a period of time."
